project plan

While my project does not feel as ambitious as some of the others I've read about, I know time is still going to feel tight as we start getting into the project phase of the program.

I appreciate Joe's offer to help when I begin coding the php needed. I will most likely take you up on the offer, Joe, as my php is limited at best (and I'm out of practice!)

I have many test subjects lined up to see if this thing works and I actually don't think it will take me an incredible amount of time once I get going. This affords me the chance to really tweak the design and perhaps the user interface into something that is really spectacular.

So my plan is to get the php code out of the way first, then work on making the thing visually interesting.

the blue room

The Blue Room is a sequel to The Crimson Room, one of those frustratingly interesting Japanese flash games.

You take the point of view of a character who has become locked in a room. Within that room are all of the materials you need to make your escape, the only catch is that you have to find them.

The game can be frustrating, but really all it takes is a lot of wild clicking. Eventually you'll land on something important and progress your game. I've played a lot of Crimson Room and another knock off of this sub-sub-sub-genre and I can say that they are interesting, but ultimately little more than distractions, time wasters for a boring day at work. (But when boiled down that far, what isn't?)

project stoof addendum

I remember what my other idea was. I would like to make a Dynamically-Created Internet Community Image Collage. I think I know how it would work.

Members of an Internet community could upload images to a specified folder on a webserver, let's call that folder "Collage. A php script controls the uploading and another php script randomly selects a set number of images and displays them in a random order on a website. Depending on how the HTML is written, boom instant collage.

I don't think this is a bad idea.

project stoof

I'm having trouble narrowing down to just one idea.

I thought about doing something related to video for a long time, but now I'm not so sure. I should do something outside of my comfort area, maybe.

Actually, I thought about figuring out how to imbed video into a Flash movie. I've seen some cool examples and I'd like to be able to do that. Or just focusing on the artistic aspect of Flash. Uh, I had another idea much earlier today but I forget.

I'm working on it.
